About Crack Motorsport
Crack Motorsport
founder Ross Crack has been involved in motor sport for
well over 30 years. Starting in speedway in the Limited saloon
division as a 10 year old crewing on his step fathers car. Since
then Ross has move through the various divisions with the high
light participating on the crew of Robin Dawkins/Danny Smith
2000/2001 World Series Sprint Cars series. The following year
both Ross and son Sam crewed on Robin's Car to win that years
prestigious Kart Magic Sprint Car Series.
Chris Nolan, a former two time Australian Champion joined the
team to assist with Sam's development and the set up of Sam's
13 year old Kart. Chris drove limited races in a new Birel AR4-X
chassis as a Senior National Light. Chris again will help during
2004 and will assist in the development of Sam and Crack Motorsport
as well as develop both AR4-X Birels in the team's stable.
Sam took delivery of a brand new 2004 Birel Lupetto in January
which will compete in both the Victoria and Tasmanian Super
8 Series. It is the team's intention to use this Kart all year
and find a driver to race it in 2005 in the Midget class. When
Sam will move to Juniors.
Chris Nolan will again compete in the Senior National Lights
as soon as the team's new engine has arrived. Chris will move
to a more powerful class as soon as the future of engines/classes
is sorted out, developing either the ARC water cooled or a new
electric start Clubman. Chris' experience will allow for testing
of new equipment and engines for the younger drivers to move
into as they mature as competitive drivers.
In March the team purchased a second-hand AR4 chassis and used
this once at the Launceston Club Titles with Chris in which
he finished 4th. This, kart was then converted to a junior and
Emalie Johnson competed in Junior Light.
In an effort to keep modern equipment this kart is on the market
for sale after the Tasmanian Open in November.
The Tasmanian State Title produced some magnificent results
for the team. National driver Daniel Elliott won Formula Australia
and gained a second in Clubman Light. Daimon Shelton drove the
sister kart to Emalie's AR4-X to a sixth, Sam was the second
Tasmanian home in sixth also. Jake Sale drove his New Birel
Lupetto to tenth and Emalie gained 14th in Junior Light. The
Big winner was Chris Nolan who swapped karts with Emalie two
weeks before to win the State Title in the earlier model AR4.
Why Birel? Well whilst there is less than 10 in Tasmania the
Karts have a very pedigreed back-ground. Commencing racing in
Italy over 80 years ago you can now buy these Karts for all
ages and classes basically travel to any country and find team
support. The Italians have been a leader in steel development
and no-one can dispute the racing abilities of the Italians
and their teams. Plus everyone knows that red karts are faster.
Crack Motorsport is set on delivering young drivers of the future
by utilising proven products and qualified people to do so,
whilst aiming to be different, and experimenting with new ideas
but having fun at the same time. |
